Although English is his first language, Dr Fernandes also has a basic working vocabulary of medical Spanish.

Originally from Tasmania, Emma studied medicine at UNSW in Sydney, graduating with first class honours in 2011. She later competed her General Practice training in Hobart.
Emma enjoys all areas of general practice but is particularly interested in women’s health including antenatal shared care. She is trained in the insertion and removal of implanons and mirenas.
She also enjoys paediatrics and has completed a diploma of child health through the University of Sydney.
Emma’s clinical style focuses on evidence-based, patient-centred medicine. She enjoys providing preventative healthcare and health education.

Emma welcomed her first child in 2019 so when she isn’t working, she spends her time singing endless rounds of Little Peter Rabbit and trying to convince her baby to sleep through the night. She otherwise can be found baking, hiking or drinking tea.

Cathy is an Accredited Practising Dietitian with over 20 years of experience working in the public and private sector. She completed a Bachelor of Science at University of Queensland, a Graduate Diploma of Nutrition & Dietetics at QUT, a Masters in Public Health (UQ) & Sports Nutrition studies in Melbourne.
Cathy assisted those who are acutely ill in hospital across a range of medical & surgical specialities. She visited people in their homes & worked with community organisations while working in Community Health.
In a 12-month project, Cathy worked with persons with diabetes, their carers & health care providers to improve health & provide extra services & support to the local community. Cathy has provided nutrition services to residential & aged care facilities; clients of the Dept of Veteran Affairs & clients of the National Disability Insurance Scheme.
